In Canada, decisions about energy policy occur at the provincial level. Our Canadian case study focused on political contestation over policies that affect the route to market for decentralised generators in the province of Ontario. The study examined dynamics beginning with the 2009 Green Energy and Economy Act and culminating with political dynamics on these issues in the Spring of 2018.
Data collection in Ontario was completed in Spring of 2018. We reported back early results to participants and interested parties in October 2018. These results provide a snapshot of provincial dynamics that will be of interest to participants in the Ontario electricity space. More information on what Ontario can expect moving forward based on global trends will be available when final results are completed and released in Autumn 2019.
